Hydropower has positive environmental impact when compared with fossil fuels, because fossil fuels, when burn, emit harmful greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming and climate change. Hydroelectric power plants rely on the same basic principle, but instead of using the kinetic energy directly, the force of the water drives a turbine which in turn powers a generator, producing electricity which can be used on-site or transported to other regions. As with other turbine-powered methods of generating electricity, magnets in the turbine move relative to static conductors. This results in an electrical current flowing through the conductors.
The city of Las Vegas!
Anything electric or electronic can be powered by hydro electricity.
Most areas are not powered exclusively by hydro. Instead, hydro-electric generating facilities contribute power to the electrical grid, which connects all the other generating facilities and distributes it to consumers. Hydroelectric power currently supplies 6.4% of the grid load in the US.
Hydro power is used to generate electricity. Eg Boulder dam
Once the electricity is generated, it is mixed in with the rest of the power grid.
So users of electricity can't tell if their electricity came from a hydroelectric power plant, a nuclear power plant, or a wind turbine power plant.
Things powered by electricity: everything around you, TV, radio, computer, street lights, toaster, etc.
:)
Anything and everything that is powered by electricity can be powered by hydroelectricity.
Things that use electricity don't worry about where it came from, only that there is enough.
