A regular schedule helps, variable work hours does not make for a regular schedule.

I'm a 22 year old male and for the past five weeks I've been sleeping less and less but I have lots of energy even when I don't sleep much or not at all. I try shutting my eyes and keeping them shut till I fall asleep but it's like my body tries to force them open. I've taken zquil to help me sleep but more often then most it doesn't completely help and I've tried exercising during the day to burn off some energy, but I'm still wide awake at night. I work six days a week and my hours vary each day, I can go form working six hours one day then twelve the next and ten the next. My job isn't all that demanding physically but last year I could sleep for seven to eight hours with no problem. So what gives?
