I think anything that can be recycled is worth it, better than being in a landfill . Not all materials end up in similar products ie glass doesn`t always get melted down to make other ( maybe inferior quality) glass products. It can be crushed and added to all kinds of products that will be in use for years.
Plastics can be shredded and used in house insulation etc, etc.
Yes , it is worth it .
I suspect that glass will actually outlast metals. It is made from sand and there are as many glass artifacts from ancient and prehistoric tiimes as metal. I believe that recycled glass is simply melted and then reblown or spun or whatever particular application is needed. It is worth recycling, although I don't think you get anywhere near the price per ton as for metal.
Its worth recycling glass because its used in so many differant ways.People use it for reprodction of its original use they use it in art progects etc.Theres a number of things glass can be used for they breack it down even for fiberglass to make our cars and intilation etc.
Yes, glass can take thousands of years to degrade. It's worth recylcing.
yes
yes, they melt it
I know metals and plastics are worth it, because both are hard to make from scratch, and have an effect on the environment. Paper is pretty pointless, because in the UK it comes from tree farms, which if anything are good for the environment, and the process of making paper from scratch is not that different from making it from old paper.
Obviously metals & plastics effectively don't degrade in a landfill (all of our grand children will be dead before they're gone) but paper is gone within hardly any time at all.
But what about glass? I don't really know anything about making glass, or what the recycling process for it is. I would guess it degrades slowly, if at all.
