How many homes in the UK have solar panels?

A lot of houses where I live have solar panels, including my cousin's.

They're a lot more useful than you'd think despite the fact it's normally quite cloudy.

At the end of 2011, there were 230,000 solar power projects in the United Kingdom, with a total installed generating capacity of 750 megawatts (MW). By February 2012 the installed capacity had reached 1,000 MW. Solar power use has increased very rapidly in recent years, albeit from a small base, as a result of reductions in the cost of photovoltaic (PV) panels, and the introduction of a Feed-in tariff (FIT) subsidy in April 2010. In 2012, the government said that 4 million homes across the UK will be powered by the sun within eight years, representing 22,000 MW of installed solar power capacity by 2020.

over 50k and growing fast, modern solar panels work in daylight not just sun light ! most are about 50 % efficient, saving the homeowner about half the normal bill, this is a fast growing industry, watch this space by 2020 there will be millions of homes using solar/pv/wind heat exchangers ETC,

Few people used the Solar Panes. I suggest for every people to used infrared heating system because this time for save energy save life. If every people think about saving energy then environment is good for health. If you are live in Germany then http://www.energiefreiheit.com/produkte/... is best solution .

Latest figure I can find is 11,314 installations in the first 3 months of 2011. An inspired guess would be 40,000 total. OFGEM would have a more accurate figure as they are in charge of the Feed-in-tariff.

Only a few have them, they're not much use here because it's usually cloudy. If you invented a generator powered by scattered showers then you would make a fortune here.
