Does your bank do this to you too?

Posted at: 2015-05-24
I'm 16 years old and I'm working a part time job to pay my phone and car. I checked my bank account on Monday and I had about 46$ in my checking, I checked it today and now I have 127$. I haven't deposited any money. This isn't the first time this happens. It's like the 2 or 3rd. Can you explain why this happens? I don't want to waste the money and then find out I actually DIDNT have it in the bank and then them charge me an overdraft fee. Because that happened once already in this same situation. Should I withdraw the money out of there or what should I do?

You can check your activity online to see if maybe someone did deposit money into your account...maybe your parents? But that would be the easiest way to find out why there is random money in your account. Another thing is I know some savings account do this but i don't think checking does which is interest fee? Some are annually or quarterly.

You should contact your bank anytime you have extra money in your account that you did not deposit.

Knowing it's not yours and taking it is still considered theft.

what do the details in your acct say - do just go by an ATM machine balance - look at the transactions in your bank acct online

call them and ask what's going on
