I don't know about Australia, but in America we love high end expensive shoes (Christian louboutin, Tory burch, jimmy choo, Gucci, manolo blahnik, Giuseppe zannoti, etc). For the not so high end and affordable Steve Madden, Zara, converse.

In America, CA, it's Vans, Converse, Nikes, and then Jordans for younger people.

I'm not sure about australia but in America it is mostly Vans and Converse ( winter: uggs ) (Sports : Nike)

If you can't seem to buy a real one, try to buy fake. Fake are good quality in my experience. and looks exactly like real.
