Is this considered a good diamond at a good price?

is a .55 carrot diamond set in 14K white gold, and it's a VVS2, GH color, she said it's great quality...

What you're describing is not just a diamond, but an entire ring. Is there one diamond or more than one? That makes a huge difference. Just looking at Blue Nile I see diamonds that size, and with those specs, starting at around $2000. On the other hand, if you're talking about a bunch of little diamonds that add up to 0.55 carats, or what they call CTW (carat total weight), you can get those on eBay by the bagful, $125 a carat for the cheap ones, $250 a carat for the good ones. (Look under "natural loose diamonds"). You might try asking this question again with a more complete description of the ring, including a picture if possible. Tell us if the diamond has a certificate, if so what kind (GIA is best). Also, the cut, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and what shape it is (round brilliant, princess cut, etc.).

Be sure always to buy conflict free diamonds

The "value" of a diamond is maliciously manipulated by De Beers. They have successfully brainwashed the majority of people to believe they are rare, when in fact they are not. Like, at all. They hold them all, release a few at a time, and run giant marketing campaigns that convince the world that you don't love your significant other unless you spend 3 months of your salary on a worthless rock. To add to the sh*ttiness of the longest, most successful con of all time, anyone who explains how it's all a big scam is accused of being cheap. ...Which I am, but that's not the point. The point is that diamonds are worthless. If you want to spend 25% of your annual income on something to prove your love, buy something with real value, not artificial value. ...Unless you enjoy adding to the already full pockets of one of the most corrupt, evil empires the modern world has to offer.
