Is it okay to color over the price on the price tag for a gift to a friend?

Hi, I recently bought a dress for my friend and I'm not sure if she would like it or if it doesn't fit her right so I got a gift receipt just to be sure. The store that I got it from requires the price tag to still be on there in order for it to be returned. Would it be rude or lame if I just get a sharpie and color over the price? I don't want her to think I spent all this money on her and I'm "bragging".Hi, I recently bought a dress for my friend and I'm not sure if she would like it or if it doesn't fit her right so I got a gift receipt just to be sure. Instead of coloring over the tag, you should just clip it off if possible. Then tape the tag on the gift receipt, and THEN color over it. She probably won't notice the missing tag on the dress, and then if she wants to return it, the tag will still be intact.

It would not be bad just as long as the barcode is not disturbed.
