WALLPAPER PASTE!!!! Do I have to remove every single bit of old paste before papering me wall again?

You can paper right over it. I've done it plenty of times as long as the wall is smooth. I stripped 5 layers of painted wallpaper from cracked plaster walls using a garden sprayer filled with water. the paper soaks up a lot of water and then scrapes off pretty easily. As soon as the paper is off, I used a scruffie (from Scott's found in Walmart) and a spray bottle of Fantastic to scrub off the remaining softened paste before I started repairing the plaster. I feel for you. It's a thankless, messy job but the walls are wonderful when it's done. Good luck!

Next time steam the wallpaper off and the glue softens right up..but it seems that you have gone through enough to remove it..

no it's fine as long as you have it smooth it's fine it's little lumps/ bits that stick through the paper when finished that are the problem

Hi folks.

I've looked through endless amounts of forums but I can't find the answer to this question.

I have stripped the wall of the old wallpaper. Washed it down with sugar soap twice, filled holes and sanded the walls, along with scraping the paste off with a scraper at the same time. I've done the filling and sanding amongst this also.

Though I've done all of this, I am reaching the end of my tether with the old paste. So much of it has come of but still I can feel a thin layer of it now.

Is it ok to go ahead and put my lining paper on now or is it necessary to remove all of it?

Thanks in advance folks
