Spiders in the house?

Spiders, like other bugs, become active during the warmer season. Spring to late autumn typically.

3 spiders per week is not a lot of spiders, I get 5 at any time.

Your spiders are most likely the giant house spiders, and very harmless. In fact, these are a few they let children handle at bug fairs.

Unless you are being overrun with the spiders, having a couple about is worth while. They feed on pest insects most people don't want in the home, so they are good exterminators.

If you have anxieties with these big spiders, you might try catching one and learn how to keep it for a pet.

If you learn about it, and become familiar with it, you may welcome these critters.

Here is a young lady and her brother that overcame their fear by keeping a captive house spider for a pet. They learned about it and became familiar with it like any pet. They thought it scary at first, but now they love spiders:

Spiders can be killed with salt water.

To rid an area of spiders, simply mix 4 tablespoons of coconut oil with 8 ounces of white vinegar and put into any spray type bottle and spray wherever you see spider webs or where they might be coming in from. The spiders hate the aroma of coconut and stay away. Obviously, if area is subject to the weather, you must re-apply after each rainfall.

I'm in the UK too, Somerset.. early this year it was like the village of the damned! I woke up to about 8 HUGE webs around my back door end of the garden, and when I walked to the shops theses webs were EVERYWHERE - you couldn't walk the entire path, their webs were literally everywhere.. it was very freaky.

I think it's just down to the climate.. normally, out of the 500 babies they produce, most will die, just down to a lack of food. With the warmer climate there's more to eat and it's easier to survive in general.

strange that I tend to have this problem in winter, even so the only way to get rid of them is trap them and take them outside, only thing that works for me. although I'm not brave enough to do it myself and send the other half on spider catching duties.

I live in the uk and recently have noticed an increase in the number of spiders in the house. Just this week I have found three big massive ones. Is it to do with the summer coming in and that it is very warm? Any tips to get rid of them?
