I recommend bar stools between 23-28 inches tall.

Buy 2 that have a back to them..so you can sit back comfortably too. Avoid the metal feet type, they are dangerous to your own, more than wood when moving them around to sit on. Go to a few different bars in public,'and see what types they have, and move those around a little. You will find most of them cater to the comfort and ease of the customer. Measure the distance from the barwith a small tape measure.
comfy and sturdy and wide legs and good foot rests .... try the net for designs and see the furniture stores --- good bar stools are not cheap .....
I have a new Kitchen island which has an overhang and I would like to buy 2 stools for it. It's 36" inch tall with about 10-12 inch overhang. What size stool should i get an 24" or 30" stool? What is the rule of thumb for Islands and stools?
