Is it worth it (efficiency / power consumption wise) to buy a bar fridge?

Consider getting the bar fridge and also a tiny chest freezer -- something the same size as a bar fridge.

I lived with a bar fridge for about a month while waiting for a fridge repair. I am single, and found that the only frustrating thing about it was not having space to keep frozen foods. In this day and age, it seems a freezer is essential, unless you live very very close to a supermarket or high street and can buy everything fresh daily.

The biggest advantage of having a bar fridge and/or a tiny chest freezer is that they are easy to transport, so returning or disposing of them is easy.

Bar fridges never have any freezer capacity to speak of. Enough for ice cubes is about it. You're probably just as well off with an apartment sized fridge with separate freezer compartment.

Actually, I lie. I just checked. Danby, which tends to make compact appliances more than any other maker I know, makes a 3 cu ft fridge with separate freezer. That wouldn't be anywhere near big enough for me, but I cook a lot. Next size up is 10 cu ft, which is still a pretty small fridge.

I am moving to a tiny studio apartment and thought getting a bar fridge would help me manage food waste as well as energy consumption, but it looks as though the size doesn't help enough to make it worth it.

I was wondering if it is possible to find one with adequate freezer capabilities too, but I understand that may be asking too much!
