How to cover wood paneling?

It depends on the paneling, if its real wood like cedar, oak, pine, etc, they can be porous so any adhesive could stain it. If its the cheap pressborad panelling with fake veneer you might be able to cover it easier. Though no wall looks perfect aftrer having any kind of wallpaper or decals.

I'd work with the panelling and make it look like a 1960s recroom-

You know the type of lattice fencing garden shops have? Well you might be able to set this on the wall in the middle section, so only the brown shows a little on the top and bottom. Nail it over the top. Now it's a white nature theme. 3D if you put a live tree in a pretty ceramic planter in front of the window.

there are temporary wallpapers you can purchase that you can just pull off when you leave.

you can also use an old decorator's trick. get some fabric that you like & soak it in starch water & then put it on the wall like wallpaper & let it dry. it will stay on the wall until you're ready to pull it down & then all you have to do is wash the wall.

I would buy cheap fabric and tack them lightly at the ceiling and the floor.

There is temporary wall paper which is contact paper essentially (you can google for this as there are multiple sources with patterns). It removes cleanly. You can also hang large decals (also google wall decals as there are dozens); and another option is to use the 3M poster hanging strips which also come off clean. Then you can hang any of your own posters, art etc. You can buy large professional photos and hang (such as at Cafe Press. com. Zazzle.com, allposters.com, com etc).

Only thing I have would be to hang cloth panels tight to the ceiling and floor. Anything you affix to the wood would damage the panels.

Hello all,

I am soon moving into a house with one wall of wood paneling. I would love to paint over it, but as I am renting it, have already asked the homeowner about this. He said no I cannot paint it so I am trying to figure out an alternative because the wood just looks awful. Could I use a certain type of wallpaper or something that will be able to come off in a few years when we give the house back? Please be very specific with type of wallpaper and everything, I am not familiar with home repair projects like this and do not know much about these things. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you
