How many people actually have a color scheme for their dorm?

I think "Eggroll Jenkins" is a man so mismatching doesn't bother him.

MY roommate and I did it this way: We agreed what colors we liked then ONE of us bought 2 bedspreads and the other bought a curtain set and shower curtain. OR, wait until you get there and go shopping!

The only reason you want to NOT have mismatch is because matching stuff will make the room more calming. You need that as you start college.

Now, should you buy the pink and grey one then use it in college? Maybe. At least pink will go with many things your future roommate might like. So I'd say "go for it."

Will you need a twin or double for college?

Will you love it less in a year or more?

Are you willing to put up with it even if you don't love it as much as today?

Have you thought of getting the duvet cover in the color/pattern you like? It is $79 and up so there's some savings. Plan on using whatever comforter you have NOW as the filler for the duvet. We do this at my B&B and it works great. Also easier to wash.

No it's not really necessary. Sometimes rommates stuff doesn't match. I think that's normal. It's not important to have matching color schemes.

I see online all the time: "Make sure you contact your roommate in advance to set up a color scheme for your dorm." Is this really necessary? Do a lot of people do that? Because I am going to be starting my senior year of high school in the fall, so in a year I will be going to college, and if possible, I want to buy my comforter now, because there's no guarantee that Victoria's Secret will have it in a year. I am in love with it, and really want it, but I don't know if I should go ahead and buy it, or wait. Opinions?
