My cat has her own catio conected to the house. Inside the catio, there's a "natural" litter area. This area is a space where regular, backyard dirt is used as a litter box. It is wonderful because the smell is no longer inside the house. The problem is that now when you walk by the catio, it reeks! So I've tried cleaning it like a regular box (works to pick up poop), but the urine still smells. I've tried watering it down hoping that the water will dilude the urine and drag it down into the soil. Is there something I could add to the soil? A natural mixture/powder that won't effect my kitty? I've had to also dump out heavy loads of stinky dirt. What can I do?
