Paint over brick can look cheap and tack despite best efforts.
If it's a main feature it's likely best to plaster over it then choose colour to suit rest of room.
Darker colours reduce room size brighter enlarge it. Warm colours can be relaxing but possibly we may feel a lighter subtle hint of a shade of our choice pays dividends.
I would paint it terracotta. Nice warm colour.
I just bought a house and it has a full brick wall fireplace that someone painted a gross yellow color. I want to remodel and start with the fireplace since its the main part of the room. Then I want the walls to match. What do you suggest?
