Hi - well if I was you I would use Annie Sloans paint, which doesn't need a primer on and you will need to put two coats on and then finish it with wax for protection. Annie Sloans paint comes in about 30 colours - I'm not sure where you live, but here is her website which will tell you where her outlets are.

I have some chipboard furniture I don't like the colour of so how would I paint it a different colour? If I just repaint it won't the previous colour eventually come through the newer coat of paint ?
