How to close a Bank of America credit card?

Closing accounts can negatively affect your score. However, if it's a high limit and not being used, they can negatively affect getting another credit card with an equal to higher limit. Best advice is to charge small and pay it off monthly and have a history doing that. Then get the card you want and then close bank of Americas card when you get the card you wish to keep. Then call Bank of America and tell them you wish to close your account, and they'll send you a letter confirming it. When you get that, cut up your card.

Hello,

I have a Bank of America credit card. However, I rarely if ever use it, and I find it to be a bit of a waste. I am always good with my payments and have no issues with the company (nor have I ever in the past). I wish to open up another credit card with someone else, but want to make sure one is closed first. Is there any way to do this, and if so, will it hurt my credit score?

You call the number on the back of the card, tell them you want to cancel the card and wait for their answer. Once they say they've closed the account, you hang up and cut up your card.

cut it up and call them and tell them to cancel it
