On consumption side you may want to switch to 12v economy to remove conversion loss.
Breezy doesn't cut it if you want it to pay for itself. Ideally, any trees in your area should have fewer branches on the windy side due to a constant wind stunting the growth there. Do you have any 12v appliances and battery storage for the energy, or would you be hiring an electrician to install the necessary equipment to feed the power back into the grid after going through an inverter?
The fastest, easiest and most cost effective way to offset your electric bill would be to invest the 250-300 (plus other expenses involved) into more energy efficient appliances in your house. Shades in the summer to block direct sunlight from making your air conditioner run as much would cost less and save your more money than a wind turbine. Insulation for winter is good too.
HI
China make all this stuff and are leaders in keeping the costs down. To get a good idea of what is on offer go to www.alibaba.com and you will see much solar and wind generating equipment. China are moving more and more into green technology and are not ignorant of the world views on this or their own terrible pollution issues. In truth maybe someone will develop a great idea for solar or wind power but it will be the chinese who bring it to the market at a credible price.
LED lighting and Electromagnetic lighting are very popular here indeed, LED is really big business here in Xiamen. I am western dealing in solar lighting and we use flexible solar panels for beauty and performance.
The problem with all this wonderful green technology for power is the power storage still needs very ungreen batteries.
For turbines and wind energy you can check this site.
I was researching solar and wind energy to tie into the grid to offset my electric bill ideally by 100%, however i figured i would try to start small.
I was going to go with a wind turbine... and figured id see what the internet had to offer. eventually id like to try and create my own turbine, but for now I saw this one on ebay and wondered what you experts out there thought?
there website is here http://www.hydrogenappliances.com/ghost450.html
but like i said i found them on ebay and they look pretty credible
the ones i was lookin at are the 800w 12v ghost models. their going for what looks like around 250-300
thoughts about these turbines? I live out in the country in ohio about an hour between Pittsburgh and Cleavland. it always seems to be breezy here and im looking for something discrete. as we do live in a small development type area (lots of open space though, and hardly any trees or anything like that.
