They will either excuse you (and they should write and confirm this)
or they wont- in which case you have to go.
Not sure if you are in the UK or if this applies there but in the US if you are summoned for Jury duty then you are required by law to attend. Unless you have a valid excuse as indicated on the Jury summons you cannot get out of it. And I have to go to school is not a valid excuse.
To blatantly not show up for a jury summons is technically a crime. Though not one they will pursue you for but it will be put on your record and if you ever get pulled over in the future they'll see that and you'll get slapped with whatever fine goes along with that too, along with the speeding ticket fine.
Just go to it. They send it out to about 60-75 people and only pick 12. More than likely you'll just get there, hang out for a couple hours, then be excused to leave. Just bring your homework with and you can do it while you're sitting there.
Nobody else has time for it either, but they have to make the time, and so do you. It's your duty as a citizen. Selections for jury duty are made at random from registers of citizens of eligible age. If you don't turn up when called, that is an offence.
Hey! the phone number of the court will be on the information sent to you, call the court and discuss the matter with the guy or doll who wrote the letter, resign yourself to the fact if the court says you have got to go, then you go but it never hurts to speak to someone first does it?

I heard about something like that, but I don't think going to school is a good excuse. Depending on what time you have school, if you get our early, then just go! If you don't show up or call, you're *** will get arrested and put in jail. Sorry, but you have to go. Just go! It's the law. Sorry princess, you're going to jail if you don't go. Just miss school. This is the law we're talking about!

I'm 23 years of age going on 24.
I just got home from visiting my friends' apartment yesterday evening and from school and my dad showed me that I got something from the mail that said, "You have been summoned for jury service"
For what? I'm a college student at a junior college and I don't have time for that. I have school everyday and I can't afford to miss school. Plus, I don't drive so no driver's license. I only take the city bus. Why did I get selected? I don't have any criminal records or anything. I'm kinda scared. Will I go to jail?
I don't wanna go to jail. It's gonna ruin my life.
