True, Africa is flooded with sunlight....and space is not an issue.
The practicality of solar panels, however, including cost, integration, and maintenance is another issue. All of these factors play into the equation.
Specifically, location is a unique issue.
Most of their "open space" is desert like.......and thus the immediate need for solar panels is reduced.

this process TAKES MORE POWER THAN A SOLAR PANEL WILL EVER PRODUCE
THUS THE SMART PEOPLE QUIT USING THEM AS THEY ARE VERY COSTLY
SOLAR PANEL POWER COSTS 10 TIMES THAT OF ANY OTHER SOURCE LIKE COAL , GAS , NUCLEAR SO THEY ARE QUIT STUPID TO USE AND IN FACT WASTE REAL ELECTRICAL POWER

If you want to waste your resources then go solar panels , the nation of Spain has a report out on this and is THE reason they quit installing them , China figured it out and quit making them as well
NASA used them in space , not because they worked well and were cost effective ,BUT BECAUSE OF THE LAUNCH WEIGHT WAS LOWER THAN FUEL CELLS ,BECAUSE THE OXYGEN MUSH ALSO BE LAUNCHED , solar cells are light , but required large amounts of power to create and their cost is very , very high and the life of a solar cell is only 15 yrs from the manufactures data sheets , then they go dead like a light bulb burns out ,,,they are not forever like people think and they produce DC power and that must go thur a inverter , then at night they must have charged a set of batteries , so you can have power at night or on a cloudy day
NO SOLAR CELLS ARE A BIG LOSER AND STUPID TO USE FOR EARTH BASED COMMERICAL POWER TO HOMES AND SUCH
A COAL FIRED PLANT IS ONE TENTH THE COST OF SOLAR AND WORKS NIGHT AND DAY

No one has the money to pay for them. Solar panels are not a good investment. They only work when the sun is out.
May be there is not much demand. By demand I mean with so much investment someone must pay to consume the energy.
Cause you haven't made it happen,
get over there and make it happen.
