Why can't scientists use these ideas to go green?

The problem is never the a bout why they can't make a solution, it's who ends up paying for developing and then deploying it.

The vacuum idea - Companies will not be profitable to scrub the general air - they will focus on the pollution they make themselves, and then only if required by law. Governments have enough problems finding money to fund their pork projects - and they will prefer not to scrub polluted air coming from the town over. I'd also argue that plants, weather and the sun already do a better job scrubbing (although definitely not complete) than what we can currently devise. However, that vacuum thing would be pretty massive - You'd need personal anchors and earplugs to be near these things, and they would be on constantly. Birds would get sucked up constantly. Currently, we filter our air before it gets into the house/building/car, which is more immediate and directly beneficial to those concerned.

The polymer thing - they already do something like that - the oil-absorbing booms are that solution - for the BP spill - they could not make these things fast enough to make a difference. Again, using the BP spill - the oceans are salty - your polymers would melt before it could bind to the oil. I actually think the oil-eating bacteria is more practical, as it tries to naturally break down crude oil into natural elements, as unprocessed crude is still organic.

Again, the problem is less the technology, though, but more the cost (financial and resource and willingness) to develop and deploy.

Good luck!

For the vacuum idea, the question of where to store it or how to dispose of it would come into question and no green answers have been found as of yet.

When you melt the polymers and salt thing, where would you do it that wouldn't affect the environment?

And yes water gets re-used. It is used, goes down the drain, gets filtered, processed so it is clean and

drinkable/usable and is sent back through pipes but there is only so many times you can reuse water.

None of those ideas are economically or scientifically sound. Keep trying though.

So, last night i thought to myself some ideas and was like "Hmmmm... why can't scientists use these ideas" so if you know the answer can you tell me. These are my ideas:

-To create a vacuum thing to suck all the pollution.

-To put a bunch of polymers onto oil spills then place it somewhere and melt it by putting salt.

That's it but there is one bonus question which is "Does water get re-used?"

Thanks if you answered.xx
