Why can't people younger than 18 sign petitions?

Unfortunately a person has to be of legal age of 18 before they are truly considered an adult, Having the majority of rights as a citizen, Until you are 21 years of age you do not have full citizen rights.

because petitions are the same as casting a vote, an if you understand why minors cant vote then you should be able to see the same reasons for petitions

Only registered voters can sign petitions legally.

If an unregistered voter signs a petition, that signature can be thrown out.

They aren't legal adults.

it depends on the petition

I thought we had a say in this country. Whatever happened to the 1st Amendment? Freedom of speech, petition the government, press? What's up, America?

I understand why minors can't vote, drink or stuff like that, but I mean, why not petitions?

Thanks in advance to all of you.
