THERE IS NO SUCH PLACE that has all the stuff you want... you must live in a very protected environment or you would be more realistic... because your question is almost DELUSIONAL.
It depends on your lifestyle.
IF you are one who simply doesn't want to take up too much space/ burn too much energy, a small one bedroom apartment in a city that practices recycling might be best. In city areas, you have walkable/bicyclable access to everywhere possible even your job potentially. You can buy as much food as you need for one meal, or you can grow food inside your home (not outside it's too toxic). If you seriously want to save space, move into a larger apartment and get a roommate or two. Don't own a pet (pets require a lot of energy/time to make petfoods and other animal expensives) and go vegan.
If you are a person who is interested in that HOLISTIC environmental friendly stuff (ie. a me), Florida, on the coast and on the countryside. I'll tell you why: If you plan on making a sustainable house, cob homes, rammed homes, earthships thrive in Florida environments: plenty of sunlight, wind and rainshowers. The environment and outside soil is PERFECT for gardening, the sunlight and wind is PERFECT for using for eco-energy, and the frequent showers insure you'll always have rain water to collect for household uses and to water your hydro or aquoponics. THe only down turn would be the tropical storms but fortunately believe it or not, houses made of earth with complete tile flooring are actually water proof. So if your house floods, mold and mildew will never be a issue. It will only be in a matter of getting the water out of your house.
hope that helped
Get a book on climatology, preferably one with maps drawn to the same scale. Trace the outline. Then, moving from map to map, black out the areas that are too extreme for you: too hot, too cold, too humid, too dry, too snowy, not enough snow, whatever you don't like. That's how I found my retirement home.

I feel c harmful life at home with my wife and outside any hotel with girl friend.
Home with family and outside with friends.
