What percent of your annual salary is not spent?

Of course this would vary but I'm asking for like an average. So a person who doesn't buy everything at the store, or barely ever spends money.

Related to this is the rule of thumb advice that one have 8 years of income saved by the time they retire, with careful investment that can be stretched out to 24 years of retirement for those who own their home.

If you saved 20% a year, it would take 40 years to save up that 8 years salary.

A reasonably good saver saves 3-5% of their income. Anything up to 10% is very good. Over 10% is awesome. It really depends on your stage in life - e.g. Living at home with parents, married with kids, car and mortgage, etc.

Triple these figures if you have few expenses to outlay

I think I save up to around 15% after taxes
