Shakti (Devanagari: ?????) from Sanskrit shak – "to be able"meaning sacred force or empowerment – is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe in Hinduism.
It most actively manifests through female embodiment and creativity/fertility, though it is also present in males in its potential, unmanifest form.
Not only is the Shakti responsible for creation, it is also the agent of all change.
Shakti is cosmic existence as well as liberation, its most significant form being the Kundalini Shakti, a mysterious psychospiritual force. Shakti exists in a state of svātantrya, dependence on no-one, being interdependent with the entire universe.
If you think about the term cosmic energy scientifically it can mean a lot of things. First there is the cosmic radiation that is bombards everything in space. This has several sources. The most obvious is from celestial objects such as stars, gas giants, and black holes. The other source is from the origin of the universe as whole and is called cosmic microwave background radiation. As you can see each produces the cosmic radiation that is pervasive beyond the safety of Earth’s atmosphere.
The first source of cosmic energy comes from celestial objects. Stars, Planets, and Black holes are continuously producing high energy radiation. For star and black holes the source of the radiation comes from nuclear fusion. The combining of separate atoms produce high levels of energy that are dispersed into space in the full electromagnetic spectrum. Planets such as Gas giants can also produce large fields of radiation. This is because most gas giants are celestial bodies that failed to fully become stars not having sufficient mass to complete fusion.
Cosmic energy is lethal for most life forms. That is why the atmosphere for the Earth and the Heliosphere for the solar system play important roles. Both the atmosphere and heliosphere act as powerful filters helping to screen out cosmic radiation. This is vital to allowing life to thrive on Earth and other worlds we are not yet aware of.
