These are some quotes from poems I've read that may help:
The earthen scent of packed undergrowth
The sticky sweet of maple trees
The dry freshness of a leaf cranking underfoot
The musky smell of wet leaves after a dark sweet rain like a box of chocolates
Good luck with the essay :)
Hi, this is not the direct answer to your question as the scent of autumn is different from the one you seem to have in mind.
But the scent of the earth after rain is called 'petrichor'.
And the scent of autumn is believed to be a result of 'abscission', the process by which trees drop their leaves.
Like " tannin " ; also known as the smell of Fallen, Autumn leaves... ;)
its decomposing leaves. autumn also smells like burning leaves, at least around my house it does.
ozone... smells clean fresh etc.
You know how after rains, there's a distinct smell to it? Even if you were sleeping and didn't know it was storming, you could step out and tell just by the smell that it had rained? Or even in the summer, there's a smell to it!
Blahhh, I'm writing an essay and I have to describe what Autumn's atmosphere and the smell of it is like! I know there is a smell and feeling to it, but I can't manage to put it into words!
It's making me frustated!! Please help! Thank you very much! :))))
