Sustainable design for the future.?

Glass can and is recycled very efficiently.

Did you know that broken glass (frit) is used to make fresh glass and by using some frit in the production process the energy required to make new glass is greatly reduced because the eutectic (Mix melting point) of the product is far lower when a frit us utilised.

I like your thinking, though I don't know the decomposition rate of Bamboo and whether or not it would actually reduce the Carbon Footprint in comparison to other options...I have some Bamboo items that have lasted beyond 6months and I know of one computer manufacturer that uses Bamboo on it's casing that has to last much longer than 6months.

I strongly believe in recycling and just as a note, glass that is recycled is not just used to remake glass...it is also used in the tar to resurface roads, airport tarmacs, etc. If we could get the Waste Management Companies to do an additional screening for recyclables then things would be more efficient.

Thinking of new a better ways to do things are always a plus...if it doesn't solve a problem it at least puts us on a journey to solving the problem. As far as J20 goes, there would be an issue of consistent sizing during the growth process of Bamboo, but there may be a way to screen which wouldn't add to costs.

Wow, quite the idea you have there. Definitely thinking outside the box!

You might want to consider would all the information be readable at such a small size and understandable if it were to be in other languages and burned into the bamboo.

Recycling is a growing trend, with more and more people doing it (Myself included). However, a reusable bottle/cup is rather appealing and it would attract those people who don't recycle.

Good Luck!

I think this is a great idea, i don't know why it has not been done. It would take some push to get J20 to do this. But in the long term it would be cost effective and sustainable. I would defiantly buy this and i would reuse it too. Good luck with your research!

Help me with my research?

J20, A brand everyone knows about.

How can you imagine in 20 years in the future? Did you know glass takes 1million years to biodegrade. Unless it is actually recycled then it is not sustainable. How many of you honestly recycle every glass bottle you drink from?

What if J20 was sold in bamboo, just a fat cane of bamboo.

Bamboo only takes 6 month to biodegrade in a landfill.

Bamboo is so cheap to farm, and bamboo grows up to a foot a day.

To make zero environmental impact the packaging would be simple, and the label non existent. why not just burn the information, logo etc directly onto the bamboo. Therefore minimising the carbon footprint and making the biodegrading process easier.

Another good thing about the J20 bamboo bottle is that not only is it environmentally friendly the bottles can be reused as everyday cups in the home.

We will have no choice in the future but to be more sustainable.

Please comment your views and if your support this packaging idea for the future of J20.
