im 26 yrs old. currently unemployed, no kids. I have $31,000 saved up however i want to visit europe this summer & its gonna cost about $5000. should i spend my money and do it? i feel guilty breaking bank

Isn't that why you work, to have fun. There's no point in being the richest person in the graveyard.

No. You currently don`t have a job, you need the money to spend for your daily needs and to pay for bills. What if you don`t get a job in more than 3 months? Money is easy to spend but what if you can`t find a job, what money will you use to spend for your daily needs and pay for your bills? We can predict the future but we can`t be accurate of what`s actually going to happen. Don`t do it, travel somewhere that won`t cost you $5000. You can just go do fun activities let`s say for a few days, camp, hike, go to the beach, anything that won`t cost more than $500. You`d still get a vacation. Or if you really want to travel, travel locally and visit a place you`ve never been yet. Book a hotel for a few days, and explore the city or place you`re visiting without spending much.

No give to the poor. You may be able to save up again especially if you're a man and you can have kids anytime. I'm sure you'd feel a million times better knowing your money has helped someone live another day then going on your travels, (which incidentally I can't see why it should cost that much, but it probably depends how you go).

it would be better if you travel to not for pleasure but attempting to catch other opportunity , if i was you i will try to travel to Asia such as Indonesia will stay there for six months its cheap country you will spend only 3 or 4 thousands us for this period and there you may have an idea for such opportunity, you can because you have many advantages such as huge money, English language, developed experience others

for me my current position accountant in Dubai low salary and high expenses i am trying to safe money. some days i will travel to know more

Go for it, I have traveled since I was 14 and visited many countries. I am glad I did. Do it while you are able to with no kids. This probably will not come around once you are working, married and kids.

As you are unemployed now, why wasting money on travel. Wait till you get a good job. The money on hand will be useful till you get a good job, otherwise you may use this money to start a business in a small scale.

Ah!!! To be young and unattached!!! Do it!! Maybe you'll like it in Europe so much you may decide to work there for a while. Do it while you're young and you don't have other things weighing you down. Continue your job search online while on vacation. Enjoy!

you should spend your time finding a position and get a start date in September, then travel in June through August

The money on hand will be useful till you get a good job ! This probably will not come around once you are working !

That's what life is all about I say................

Sure. When you get your job back. You'd be a fool to spend it now, not knowing whether or when you're going to be re-employed.

This may be the surge you need to uplift your life and get you into a job when you get back. $5,000 sounds like a reasonable amount to spend. You will still have a nest egg when you get home and begin job hunting. Have a good time !
