I know it may be frustrating, but debate is not necessarily a bad thing. There are many places across the world where they have little to no bickering because they have no real democracy.
Am I happy that we are going through this? No.
Is our nation facing serious long term problems? Yes.
If we delay addressing these problems, will the solutions only become harsher and more draconian? Yes again.
If this is not fixed now, our generation will wind up paying for this mess.
Both sides should focus on facts and stop the personal attacks. If the personal attacks are what you mean by bickering, I agree with you 100%. But even a happy smiley government could still become crossed due to philosophical differences.
