Jury Duty - US district court - How long till they respond?

Courts are notoriously slow about responding to requests and other mail. If you don't hear back a week before your assigned date, call the courthouse and ask what the status of your request is.

It is interesting that they assigned you to Islip, given that they also have a US District Court in downtown Brooklyn. I wonder if they can transfer you to their Brooklyn court.

So I mailed a letter to the US district court because of traveling hardship. Base on Hopstop, it says its gonna be around 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours of train traveling and about 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking (yes, walking. I don't know what happen to the "bus" they said there is but its not on google map.)

So pretty much the court is around 48 miles to 50 miles away form where I live. (court is in 100 federal plaza in long island, I live in brooklyn near marine park). I wouldn't mind as much if it was in the Brooklyn courts but I do not want to go all the way to long island just to be sent back cause I can't handle long rides. I mailed a letter explaining this along with a print out of Hopstop, a copy of my summon, and that question form thing that you need to fill out and send back. I just want to know about how long till they respond. I don't want to wait last minute to send a second one because of whatever issues that happened.
