There are many small things you can do that will cost you nothing & even save you $$.
The 3 'Rs' are a good basis for starting.
You think to yourself 'how can I apply these words to my own life?' and then the ideas will start flowing.
I 'reduce' by making my own laundry soap. No big containers to recycle--recycling takes up energy & causes pollution too. I use Zote soap mixed with Borax & washing soda (make my own washing soda by baking the baking soda in the oven). The soap lasts a lot longer than the store bought laundry detergent.
I also use my glass jars for storage.
I melt leftover candle wax in a store-bought candle & pour them into the glass jar & put the jar on my shelf as a room deodorizer. I just keep adding more wax to the same jar. It looks really cool because you get the different colours in layers in the jar.
You can use the glass jars from the candles to put potpourri in & put them on the shelf for room fresheners.
That's not just reducing, but also reusing.
Ribbons from the potpourri bags can be used to decorate the gass jars once they are filled with candle wax or potpourri.
You can make your own potpourri by growing & drying nice-smelling flowers & plants.
You can also grow your own herbs so you don't have to purchase them at the store, where they are packaged in plastic bags or jars that once again have to be thrown away or recycled.
So many ideas will come to you if you just remember your 3 'R's.
Ok, if you're doing this for school you should put a recycle box in every classroom and come pick up the recycables at the end of the week. You get service hours and you're saving the planet at the same time! I really hoped this helped cause I'm doing exactly what I told you to do!!
Do exactly what Jay says, it won't massage your ego ''saving'' the planet(which at it's heart, is what envoirnmentalism is really about, despite the good intentions), but it will actually keep the earth in better shape than say, carbon taxes ever will. The more technologically advanced a society is, the less it pollutes. And that will not be achieved by repressive taxes and regulation.

Because of increasing pollution day by day due to industrial wastes, deforestation, energy consumption, High Co2 emissions, land degradation, soil erosion is causing global warming. If it continues like no one on the earth will be alive. This is our need to come to stop or reduce these wastes. We are involving on various campaigns. Promote free trade. When each country contributes to the global economy via activities it is most efficient at, personal wealth and income rise globally, and without tariffs and protectionism in place industrial processes modernize faster, resulting in fewer pollutants being released into the atmosphere.
You want to help the planet. Just be a good steward to the earth and your fellow man. If everyone did this then it would make things a lot better for everyone.
