*Don't leave the sink / tap running.
*Take shorter showers. (Even a minute shorter is a good start. A few showers a week is 5 minutes, over a year is almost an hour. And more people doing that over many years saves hours worth of running water.)
*Run your washing machine / dishwasher on as short as cycle as possible (to still achieve cleanliness).
*Use re-useable water bottles.
*Recycle (aluminum cans, plastic, paper, glass, carboard, ect.)
*Water your plants in the early morning.
*Don't wash your car too often.
Find out where you're using water, and reduce it.
The easiest way for most people is reducing their watering of their lawn. The second way is a more efficient washer. The third way is in the shower. The fourth way is the toilet.
First look up and open your eyes. Average rainfall in most states will more than satisfy the needs of the average family if collected and stored. It works well for me, I have no water bill and even fill an 18 ft above ground pool. (shhhh)
Stop the tap after usage, use water as you need, don't forget close the water tap.
Take shorter showers, wear less clothes, and buy water efficient appliances i.e. shower heads, dishwashers, and washers.
