50-100 years?
2) On a scale of 1 to 10, how important are fuels to you?
5 I guess if we can use sustainable energy instead.
3) What do you think life without fuels will be like?
Pretty awesome, the air would be cleaner and the planet healthier.
4) Do you know the current price of one litre of petroleum in your country*
I think it's about £1.50 or something but I have no idea (I'm 16 and live in England)
5) Why do you think fuel prices are increasing?
Because fuel is getting more rare and difficult to find/ get up from out of the ground, and so companys can afford to up the price.
Love a good survey
1) How long do you think the world's fuel sources will last?
fossil fuels will last 50-100 years, at reasonable prices. After that, there will still be quite a bit, but it will be very expensive to extract.
Uranium might last a few hundred years - I've never looked at that.
Hydrogen fusion should be around for thousands of years, once we're able to get it to work.
Wood should be around forever, if we don't poison the entire world, or follow the Easter Island model.
2) On a scale of 1 to 10, how important are fuels to you? Oh, about 12. ;)
3) What do you think life without fuels will be like?
Humans lived w/o fuels, other than wood, until 200 years ago, and still do in many places around the world.
4) Do you know the current price of one litre of petroleum in your country?
About $70 a gallon (cheaper than it's been in the last few years) which probably translates to about $18 a litre.
5) Why do you think fuel prices are increasing?
Ah hah, now we're getting to the heart of the matter.
There's a couple things. Fracking has become far more widespread and efficient, so more oil and natural gas is being extracted. (I don't like the term "produced" because it's not produced, it's extracted.) It used to be that Saudi Arabia controlled the price by how much oil they put on the market, but there is now enough more that their production would have to be very low to keep the price high. And it seems they're accustomed to all that money and are not willing to cut back enough to raise the price.
United States, age 73.
(you might ask for age as well, as that might make a difference.)
