I've been seeing more and more of this especially on tv talk shows, the host will only have the middle button of his jacket buttoned as he stands and it looks wrong. I know you are supposed to unbutton your jacket when you are sitting but this current look just strikes me as off. No, it's not a new trend. Not buttoning the bottom button has always been the appropriate way to wear a suit. If it's a three button suit buttoning the top bottom has been a matter of personal style.
