What hat would be acceptable to wear in Australia?

I'm off to Australia on holiday this summer and I don't want to look like a t*** in an idiotic hat (poetandididntknowit). Baseball caps look weird, and your ears get burned...so I was thinking like one of the classic Australian outback style hats, sort of like a cowboy hat made of leather...but would that look too touristy? Any insight? I'm off to Australia on holiday this summer and I don't want to look like a t*** in an idiotic hat (poetandididntknowit). Australian Cork Hat

If you want lots of stares and sniggering go for the cork hat, lord, i don't even know why people think we wear these embarrassing contraptions. Stuff touristy, you want a good hat that will cover your ears either go for an akubra hat like the farmers and cattlemen wear or a bucket hat will do. Don't worry about what we'll think as we have enough of our own crazies to gawk over!!!!!!!

as an Australian I highly recommend you don't wear an outback hat. if you want to wear a hat bucket hats are actually coming back in. try to find one with a funny print or slogan. Wearing an Australian Cork hat would point out that you're a tourist from miles away. I hope you have a safe trip and have fun!

You are speaking of an Akubra. Yeah it might look abit touristy only if you are doing the touristy thing. Believe it or not, Aussies don`t wear alot of Akubras. Any casual hat will do the trick.
