Who says you even have to wear a blazer? If this is a formal event, then it would be proper to wear a blazer compared to a leather jacket. But, if you're not feeling a blazer, than go without one. Wear whatever blouse/skirt/pant assemble with maybe a cute pair of flats/heels and you're pretty much good to go with some accessories. Maybe pearl earrings or diamond studs? Some bracelets--whatever your style. Personally, I don't mind wearing blazers when I'm on a stage or presenting a speech. I don't spend much money on my blazers. I usually find cute ones at Forever 21, H&M and The Limited. They're really cute when paired with a flow-y top. This is me assuming you're a girl. If you're a guy, then again--blazers are often optional.
