eh, any is better than non on a bright day, i don't really notice the difference except my polarized ones keep picking up car windows that are tinted when i walk by and are supposedly better for driving. up to you, if you live in a bright city and are always outdoors, then the darker ones if it's mostly overcast, then the gradient ones.

I recently had to make a similar decision yesterday... Gradient or non gradient and on top of that which color ANDDDD to make it EVEN HARDER polarized or none polarized?! Personally, I like gradient, but if it's not too dark black then a solid would look good. I DONT think sunglasses that are a solid SUPER dark color look good. As for polarized and non-polarized... I chose non-polarized because I didn't want to have awesome vision with the sunglasses and then think of the usual vision as bad vision...

get the gradient lenses !
