My grandmother had plastic covered living room furniture. She had the slipcovers custom made and her upholstery lasted four decades!! It went in and out of style as the years went by. The plastic did eventually yellow and crack, but she replaced it.

Contact your upholstery shop for price quotes. Just be sure of one thing: there should be areas where grommets are installed on the plastic slip covers so that air can circulate and prevent moisture build up which is a breeding ground for mould.

Plastic covers are generally custom made as few chairs have the same profile or dimension. You can contact the manufacturer of the chair, or an upholsterer.

But, why would you want them? They're ugly, hot, uncomfortable, noisy, look tacky and are just as expensive as slip covers.

I don't think that they are ugly. I want them because they will protect the fabric and I can maybe sit a chair pillow on top of the plastic
