Whats the best way to raise my headboard up 5"-6"?

Consider taking a standard size wooden pallet, 48 inches long by 40 inches wide by 5-6 inches high, and create a base to fit under the headboard. Even a few wooden fruit crates the right height and width, bolted end to end, could be placed under the headboard to lift it higher.

i like the brick idea...or some 2x4 blocks

So I bought some bed risers that make my bed 6" higher than it was before. I did this so I could put some drawers underneath my bed. Well I have a headboard with a bunch of shelves and now the headboard is like 5"-6" inches too low so the lowest shelf isn't reachable. Whats the best, and cheapest way to boost my headboard up 5"-6"? I was thinking about bricks or cinderblocks but I really think that might be overkill. What do you think would be the best option?
