Hi - personally I think red as an accent colour would bring out some 'POP' in your room - you don't want your room to look to bland and dismal - you need something to brighten it up - therefore this is why I am suggesting red as it goes with your black furniture the colours of your carpet and curtains.

Beige or cream would look good because they are neutral colors like brown and black but they also lighten up the room. Don't go for a rainbow color, it will just look weird. Don't go for a dark color, either. The room will look dark and closed in, like a cave.

Red or sky blue

Just rented a house and my room has dark brown carpet with curtains to match. The walls are an eggshell white. The owner wont let us paint and she doesn't want us to mess with the curtains either. All the furniture I'm moving in his black.
