What paint should I use to cover a wall that is a combination of wood and concrete?

Use a water based primer on the wood in order to go with the latex. I would use Kilz, which is pricy, but worth it, but there are cheaper primers out there. I would go with 2 coats if you use a cheaper primer. Remember that primer is not paint. The primer will be a bit translucent when you are done, but the paint should be opaque after two coats.

Regular interior paint in a light sand color.

I am aware that the best way is enamel for wood and latex for concrete.

But the wall is literally half wood and half plywood. If anyone here is familiar, they call it "medyatalye". From the floor until 1/3 of the wall is concrete and the rest is plywood. Also divisions are plywood and side of the wall is concrete that acts as a fire wall.

I prefer to use latex (permacoat for Boysen) because its easier to handle than enamel. Also latex does not smell. The only problem on latex is when I paint it on plywood small circular stains appear around the area where the nails are.

In the Boysen site, they said you could paint wood with latex provided that you primed it well. So another question if I plan to use latex how will I prime the wood? What kind of product should I use?

The reason I don't want to use 2 kinds of paint are:

- finish might be different and so as the color/shade

- it's much cheaper to use one type of paint

- its easier to paint the wall by using one type of paint.

- I can buy by bulk and gave it colored once.
