Is it bad the fire department had to come and dispose of linseed oil for me at my request?

In the future just let the rags dry out in the sun and then you can toss them in the trash.

Your good name is not damaged, but if you continue to call the fire department out for frivolous reasons they might issue you a fine.

I used linseed oil on wood over the weekend. Folded the rags to use next time. Found them today hot and browned in the center fold.

After calling non emergency fire they insisted on coming to dispose themselves, after asking how to properly dispose.

The fire truck came. Took the rags, cancelled the hazmat responce unit, and took my name for their records.

My question: is this good or bad for my name? As in held against my name for not knowing how to handle a chemical?

No answers of "rather your garage burn down?", please. I could have just as easily placed in a metal wash bucket and brought to a drop offs location. But called for info on it instead. Maybe i had used the wrong rag material, etc..
