Take all the thread off of/out of the machine and clean it per the instructions in the manual. Put in a new needle, right way around. Rethread carefully, making sure the bobbin is turning the correct way and the threading pattern is correct.

If that doesn't fix it, feel for nicks or rough spots around the needle plate, presser foot and along the thread path. You can gently polish those burrs off with crocus cloth.
