How is your induction range working and would you recommend buying one?

Induction is wonderful to cook on. I have a couple of plug-in induction hotplates and use at least one of them every day, but I also have been reading the reviews and the for-the-home induction ranges seem to be plagued with problems. I'd love to get one, expensive as they are, but won't until they seem reliable. If they worked as reliably as coil and even flat-top ranges do, they'd be worth the extra money.

I have had a Kenmore Elite slide-in induction for more than 5 years. When it works, it's a dream, and I love it. The problem is, it doesn't always work! I thought I'd go nuts with the repair people going in and out of here. Fortunately, I have kept a maintenance policy on it and the seller is willing to replace it. We have limited choices, and I still want induction and convection, so we're going with G.E. We are an older couple and I really like the safety features of these appliances. Thank God for my microwave convection oven and electric fry pan.

I've been reading a lot of reviews on induction ranges, from Kenmore to Viking, and they seem to all be plagued with reliability issues turning up in a year or 2. If you have one, what is it and how long have you had it and has it broke down? I would love to get one but they aren't cheap and I want something to last much more than a couple years.
